My name is Sasha and this is my tango site. I dance Argentine Tango socially in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before my daughter was born, I used to guide the fundamentals hour at Tuesday Night Tango in Palo Alto. I volunteer at the Stanford Tango Club and participate in L.O.F.T., a community tango orchestra. Between the baby and the tango, I can be spotted at the opera or heard practicing bandoneón or singing in a foreign language. And yes, I do have a day job.
Dancing for me is about expressing the music in partnership. After studying classical music all my life and years of tango training, I seem to have developed enough intuition to enjoy the dance without too much stress. The musical component came easier; as for moving around… let's just say that as an athletically challenged engineer by trade, I take full advantage of the fact that this dance was invented by mere mortals for mere mortals.
All my names. I respond to all three. Sasha is a Russian nickname for Alexander which isn't really any more weird than Bob for Robert.
Tango is comfortable. My approach to dancing (and teaching) is based on this idea.
